From Barcode to Automated Cooking: HENCODES HC-7030 in Tineco’s Smart Cooking Appliance

A customized barcode scanning solution connecting packaged ingredients with cloud-based cooking programs.

Project Overview

Smart kitchen appliances are making everyday cooking more convenient by connecting ingredients, recipes, and automated controls. In Tineco’s automatic cooking appliance, the HENCODES HC-7030 barcode scanning module provides the starting point for this connected experience.

Integrated into the front of the appliance, the HC-7030 allows users to scan the barcode on a food package. The appliance then uses cloud services to access the corresponding cooking settings, including cooking time and sauce proportions. After the user adds the food, the appliance carries out the cooking process automatically.

For this application, HENCODES customized the HC-7030’s exterior to suit the appliance’s design and integration requirements.

The Application Challenge

A scan-to-cook experience needs a straightforward connection between physical food packaging and digital cooking instructions.

The scanning module needed to be accessible during food preparation while fitting into the appliance’s overall appearance. Its role was to capture the package barcode and provide the identification data needed for the appliance to retrieve the appropriate cooking program.

The HENCODES Solution

HENCODES supplied the HC-7030 embedded barcode scanning module with a customized exterior, integrating barcode capture into the appliance’s front-facing design.

The HC-7030 acts as the data entry point in the cooking workflow. It captures the barcode information, while the appliance’s connected system and cloud service handle recipe matching and cooking parameter configuration.

This integration brings barcode scanning directly into the preparation process, helping users move from a packaged meal to an automatically configured cooking program.

How It Works

  1. Scan the package
The user presents the food package barcode to the front-mounted HC-7030 scanner.

  2. Retrieve the cooking settings
The appliance uses the scanned identifier to access the corresponding cooking program through its cloud service.

  3. Add the food
The user places the ingredients into the appliance.

  4. Cook automatically
The appliance applies the cooking time and sauce proportions associated with the selected program and performs the cooking process.

Value for Smart Appliance Manufacturers

This application demonstrates how embedded barcode scanning can simplify interaction with a connected kitchen appliance. Package identification reduces the need to select recipes or enter cooking settings manually, while exterior customization helps the scanning hardware fit the finished product.

For HENCODES, the project illustrates the HC-7030’s role as a bridge between physical products and connected services—and the value of adapting scanning hardware to a manufacturer’s product design.
